From 19-25 June 2017 #MuseumWeek puts cultural institutions into focus. This year's theme "lifestyle" invites new perspectives on the institutions.

In its third year, #MuseumWeek has grown to be a large event across all continents that celebrates cultural and heritage institutions, associations and networks alike and draws attention to their work. NEMO will also participate in the week and provide its perspectives on the daily topics.

The overarching theme for 2017 is "lifestyle" which was divided into seven topics that were partially selected by the Museum Week followers on social media. Each day one topic sets the focus for the institutions and marks the perspective from which they can approach their collection, decide whom to involve in their daily postings or share their opinion on it.

This year the hashtags go as follows:

  • Monday, 19 June: #FoodMW
  • Tuesday, 20 June: #SportsMW
  • Wednesday, 21 June: #MusicMW
  • Thursday, 22 June: #StoriesMW
  • Friday, 23 June: #BookMW
  • Saturday, 24 June: #TravelsMW
  • Sunday, 25 June: #HeritageMW

Furthermore, #MuseumWeek is committed to the cause of gender equality; 2017's MuseumWeek is dedicated to all women in the World and introduces an additional the “Women and Culture” theme. Through #WomenMW contents related to women and the daily themes can be brought together.

Inspiration for and explanations of the topics - also related to #WomenMW are available on the MuseumWeek Website.

MuseumWeek will happen on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Weibo, WeChat, VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.
