Save the Date - Ecsite Annual Conference, 15-17 June 2017, Porto, Portugal
News, Audience Development, Learning, Museums as Social Agents, Museums in a Digital World | 15.02.2017
The Ecsite conference is open to everyone interested in public engagement with science, museums and science centres. Topics range from learning theory to serious gaming, universal design to sustainable development.
The Natural History and Science Museum of the University of Porto and the Portuguese Ciência Viva science engagement network will be hosting this 28th edition and welcoming more than 1,000 attendees to the UNESCO heritage city of Porto, where the Douro river meets the sea.
The conference combines two days of in-depth workshops and three days of 100+ parallel sessions. Museum writer Nina Simon (The Participatory Museum, The Art of Relevance) will be delivering one of the two keynote speeches.
This year's theme is "Life everywhere", an invitation to celebrate the extraordinary diversity of forms evolving on our planet for millions of years but also to talk about human lives and living everywhere, about the free circulation of people and ideas – and the city of Porto is particularly symbolic in this regard. It is a port, a harbour, a place to both start a journey and welcome people from all walks of life.
Enjoy a unique balance of large crowds and friendly family atmosphere, broad thematic scope and focussed state of the art sessions, international perspectives and European touch, peer collaboration and friendly criticism.
Online registration opens on 22 February at http://www.ecsite.eu/annual-conference
