NEMO has issued a letter of concern to the Prime Minister of Slovenia concerning the cuts to culture and museum funding in Slovenia.

In response to the budget cuts announced by the Slovenian government to the cultural sector, NEMO sent a letter of concern to Prime Minister Dr. Miro Cerar. The Network of European Museum Organisations stands alongside the Slovenian Museums Association and is concerned about the functioning of the Slovenian Museum Landscape in the future if proper funding and support are lacking.

The letter highlights the important role of culture as the keeper of the Slovenian identity before the country gained its independence in 1991. A number of cultural programmes are in danger if the disproportionate budget cuts are decided on.

Museums and culture as keepers of identity and supporters of integration, social and economic development, should not be lost due to little support.
