ICOM Armenia: ICOM MPR Call for Papers: Emerging trends and their impact on museum brands

For museum brands to remain relevant in a changing world, it is critical to consider the impact of trends. This year, the ICOM MPR conference will be held in Yerevan, Armenia from the 24-28 October 2015. With the focus on “Emerging trends” and their impact on museum brands three subthemes will be explored: the challenges and opportunities offered by the digital space, dealing with controversy and understanding and engaging new audiences; and the role of marketing and public relations in addressing them will be discussed. The Organising Committee for ICOM-MPR is seeking expressions of interest from potential speakers on topics related to the three subthemes. Submissions can be made by 30 June 2015 via the conference website. Further information on guidelines and requirements can be found here.

NCK - The Nordic Center of Heritage Learning and Creativity: Collaboration between teacher training and museums in Denmark

NCK will study the outcome of the project “Learning Museum” – which was carried out 2011-2013 - and analyse and explore the possibilities for sustainable and formalized collaboration between teacher education UCLs in Denmark and museums. The aim are recommendations for a future implementation. As part of the research NCK will also look into comparable collaborations in other European countries.

Portugal Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage: Visitor study in Portuguese museums

The Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage in Portugal is conducting the first national visitors study in Portugal with a representative sample of its museums. Over the course of one year thousands of visitors will fill in an online questionnaire placed in the 14 national museums. The outcomes will help to define specific visitor strategies and Portuguese policy making.

MoTA - Museum of Transitory Art: Events at MoTA

An open-air music event with Clark from the UK, Berlin-based artist Oknai and the Slovenian artist Blaž accompanied by the drummer Simon will take place on 19 June 2015 in the center of Ljubljana at Kongresni trg, from 21.30.

Museums on a Summer Night will take place on 20 June 2015 at MoTA Point, Gosposvetska cesta 12, Ljubljana, from 6 PM on. Several activities and events will take place that day, among them being "Artefacts", which gives an insight into the non-permanent museum collections starting at 18.00. An Artist Talk with Andrea Centazzo from Italy, and starting at midnight the Random Logic PI record release party in the Bunker at Argentinski park.

National Gallery of Ireland: 11th National Drawing Day, Saturday 16 May 2015

Over 170 museums, arts centres and libraries participated in the 11th annual ‘National Drawing Day’, initiated by the National Gallery of Ireland since 2004. Included were demonstrations by artists, adult life drawing, teenagers online projects, children and family drawing sessions. The NGI hashtag, #nationaldrawingday gained 550 posts on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, reaching 800,000 users.

Museums of Science and Technology Belgrade: New Permanent exhibition “Museums of spa treatment” of the Museums of Science and Technology Belgrade in Vrnjacka Banja

The Museum of Science and Technology – Belgrade has opened its new permanent exhibition "Museum of Spa Treatment " in Vrnjacka Banja dedicated to the most famous spa treatment center in Serbia, with over 150 years of tradition. More than 180 exhibits, photographs and documents present the principles of spa treatment, therapeutic treatments with mineral water as well as hygienic-dietary regime which gives emphasis to the choice of food, rest and relaxation, outdoors and social life.

MICC – Media Integration and Communication Center: Opening Day NEMECH - New Media for Cultural Heritage

NEMECH opening day in Florence on 22 July 2015. NEMECH Competence Center of Tuscany Region and University of Florence believes in the dialogue between cultural and technical sectors. Through seminars, events and research projects NEMECH connects experts in information and communication technologies (ICT) with Cultural Heritage and Creative sectors.
