NEMO has updated its policy statement

NEMO is happy to share with you a new and updated version of its policy statement. Herein the values NEMO has identified as important for the museum sector in the present and in the future are explained in more detail. Examples of the Collection Value, Educational Value, Economic Value and Social Value from 22 European museums can be found in NEMO's publication "Museums' 4 Values - Values 4 Museums".

There is still time to apply for NEMO's second round of capacity building activities!

Applications for the Learning Exchange at the Austrian Museums Association from 5-7 October 2015 are welcome by 19 August 2015.
Applications for the Learning Exchange at the Danish Museums Association from 21-23 January 2016 can be submitted by 18 October 2015.
We invite your applications to NEMO's Training Courses on Digital Storytelling from 16-18 November 2015 or the building of Digital Strategies on 27 November 2015 by 13 September 2015.

Danish Museums Organisation: Sharing is Caring: Right to remix?

The conference "Sharing is Caring: Right to Remix?" will take place on 2 October 2015 at the DR Concert Hall in Copenhagen, DK. It addresses the topic of remix culture, rights, and how the cultural heritage can deal with these in constructive and proactive ways. The seminar focuses on the things the cultural sector can achieve when rethinking the logic of copyright in a digital age perspective. The obstacles that come up along the way will also be discussed, the ODM wants to challenge the traditional notion of copyright. The conference is aimed at professionals in libraries, archives and museums, Wikipedians, start-ups, and users interested in cultural heritage and digital culture.

Istituto per i beni artistici culturali e naturali: Registration for "The Creative Museum" Conference in Bologna is now open!

The international conference "The Creative Museum" will take place in Bologna on 8 October 2015 within the framework of the EU funded project bearing the same name. The project explores the potential of digital technologies applied to museums  and seeks to connect the Maker Community and digital industries with museums and museum practitioners to explore new ways of interpreting collections. The conference is organised in a plenary session in the morning and in four parallel workshops in the afternoon. Registration is required and now open!

Melting Pro. Laboratorio per la Cultura: Let's go training in the creative gym!

Within the project Upskill: Up skilling cultural managers, matching skills needs by improving vocational training the e-booklet "Creative Gym. Training Exercises for cultural managers. A collection of essays and case studies" was developed. It presents different training and development tools for the cultural sector as a response to the economic crisis and its effects on the cultural economy. The cooperating partners, who published the booklet as a result of a lifelong learning mobility project financed by the EU, consider continuous vocational training to be like working out in a gym.

Estonian Museums Association: Estonian Narva Museum Festival

The XVIII Estonian Narva Museum Festival takes place from 28-29 September 2015. The festival is organised by the Estonian Museum Association and is one of the biggest museum conferences in Estonia. It is organised annually and offers new perspectives on the museum field. Each year the conference focuses on a specific theme. This year the topic of the conference is: Recycling museum. The idea is to observe the ways and methods in which museums are using recycling materials in educational programmes.

Jamtli Foundation: Call for Applications Deputy Director

Jamtli Foundation in Sweden is looking for a new deputy director to join their team. The foundation is majority owner in a number of companies who run museums, heritage sites and a research & development company. The deputy director will work closely with the director whose primary task is to manage and develop the foundation with direct contact to the board, the founders and many partners. Candidates should have an educational background in one of the traditional museum faculties, a Ph.D. and work experience in the heritage sector and management. Swedish is not required for the application but applicants must be willing to learn Swedish within the first year of employment. Swiss Museums Association: All Swiss museums any time at a glance

The Swiss Museums Association developed a new app that enables anybody to sightsee Swiss museums at any time. The mobile App is called "" and includes all the museums, art collections and exhibition places in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. It contains information about the collections and the museums themselves and offers several opportunities to search for contents through different filters. Visitors will also be able to share contents via social media or e-mail. Furthermore it will be possible to have current exhibitions pointed out through geolocalisation points. The application is available free of charge in four languages - German, English, French and Italian.
