Teemu Ahola is a museum professional from Tampere, Finland. He acts as head of collections at the Museum Centre Vapriikki. His work history includes museums such as the Finnish Labour Museum Werstas, where he has worked as a head of collections and deputy museum director.
Teemu Ahola is highly interested in developing the collections' activities, processes and co-operation between museums at national and international level.
The National Network for Collections Management Co-operation and Present Day Documentation (TAKO) was established in Finland in 2009. Ahola has been a member of the network's steering group since the beginning. Since 2015 he is acting as head of the TAKO network.
In 2013, together with the Finnish museums, Teemu Ahola created the model of a nationwide division of collecting tasks within the TAKO network. Today, approximately 100 professional museums are co-operating as a member of the model. The model is aimed to reduce the overlapping themes of collecting, pinpoint missing areas of collecting and thus strengthen the museums' co-operation and collection profiles.
