Welcome Back to a New Year!
NEMO is back in full speed after the winter holidays and looks forward to the upcoming NEMO activities and initiatives. On 29 January Margherita Sani will hold a webinar on The NL Factor - A journey in the educational world of Dutch museums. As always the webinar is free of charge and open for everyone who wishes to participate. Register to the webinar here until 24 January.
In just 9 days, 26 January 2018, the deadline for applications to the next NEMO Learning Exchange in Madrid, Spain closes. NEMO Learning Exchanges are exclusive to NEMO members. During the two days the Spanish Association of Cultural Heritage Managers will inform the participants on different initiatives regarding social impact in Spanish Museums. Not a member but interested? How to become a NEMO member.
We are very happy to announce that NEMO will start offering museum internships for politicians (and civil servants) at European level. Inspired by the Netherlands Museums Association's successful scheme of internships, EU-level politicians will be invited to intern at different museums across Europe. The interning politicians will work along with the museum staff and thus learn what museum work entails. Julie Ward, member of the European Parliament and the CULT committee, and her staff will be the first to intern on 27 February at the Bonnefanten in Maastricht Museum. ZEEUWS MUSEUM: Handwerk
In response to the development towards a stronger attachment of Zeeland citizens' to their place of origin, the Zeeuws Museum has published Handwerk, an e-publication (in Dutch). The Zeeuws Museum together with other museums and local craft communities collected knowledge and skills of local craftsmanship. The results are presented in this book, which might be beneficial to museums involved in intangible heritage and/or that are working with local communities.
