International award recognises culture’s contribution to sustainable development

Applications are open for the fourth edition of the International Awad UCLG – Mexico City – Culture 21. The Award recognises good practices from cities and local and regional governments in the field of culture and sustainable development, as well as individuals who have made substantial contributions to the recognition of how cultural aspects are important for sustainable development.

Museum projects or projects that include municipal museums and policies addressing museums, heritage and visual arts have been awarded in previous editions of the award. Participation is free of charge and the deadline for submissions is 18 March.

The award is an initiative of the City of Mexico and the Global Organisation of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG). NEMO would like to point to the International Award in particular. It is worth 50,000 Euro in the “City / Local or Regional Government” category, and 25,000 Euro in the "Individual" category.

UCLG Agenda 21 participated in NEMO's European Museum Conference 2019 with the participation of Jordi Baltà Portolés, who moderated the Panel 1 Museums and… Sustainable cities and communities.
