Method for Determining the Significance and Value of Museum Objects

ICOM Finland has supported the translation of a publication that explains the method Significance Analysis, which is used to determine the significance of museum objects as well as to highlight the value of a museum’s collections.

The method was developed for Finnish museums to be used when determining the significance, meanings and value of museum objects and collections. ICOM Finland deemed the publication and the method to be of interest to the larger museum community and decided to translate it to English.

Analysing Significance is written by the museum professionals Heikki Häyhä, Sari Jantunen and Leena Paaskosk and the original publication Merkitysanalyysi menetelmä was published by the NEMO member the Finnish Museum Association.
