NEMO attended the Finnish Presidency Conference "Culture for a Democratic and Sustainable Europe"

NEMO attended the “Creative Transformations – Culture for Democratic and Sustainable Europe” conference, organized by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, from 9-10 July 2019 in Helsinki. The conference was organized within the framework of Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which started on 1 July 2019.

NEMO board member Kimmo Levä attended the conference on the behalf of the network. He reports that “the Finnish Presidency of the EU in the field of culture started in Helsinki on 9.-10.7.2019 at the Creative Transformations Conference organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The main themes were culture, creativity, learning and democracy. Sustainable development, which is one of the priorities of the Finnish Presidency, was also part of the presentations and discussions. One of the speakers was commissioner Tibor Navracsics. He was glad and proud that cultural matters have a big role in EU in coming years and said 'Culture is the heart of the EU where it belongs'.”
