NEMO represented museums at meeting of the EC Expert Group on Cultural Heritage

From 12-13 October 2021, NEMO attended the fifth meeting of the European Commission’s Expert Group on Cultural Heritage.

NEMO represented the needs of the European museum sector in discussions about safe reopening in the cultural heritage sector and prospects for the future. The expert group shared experiences and lessons learned from the last months and got to learn about good practises of how cultural heritage has been included in the Recovery and Resilience Facility plans.

The upcoming EU Action Plan on illicit trafficking was part of the agenda and the expert group got to give their input and advice on the plan, which will protect cultural heritage in danger of destruction, looting and trafficking.

On the second day, the participants discussed the legacy of Horizon2020 funded projects and the future funding under the Horizon Europe programme. Before the meeting was closed, the group got informed about the latest developments about cultural heritage and climate change in connection to the upcoming COP26 conference.
