NEMO spoke about Museums and Tourism at the Cultural Routes' Advisory Forum

The Council of Europe invited NEMO to speak at the 9th Annual Advisory Forum of the Cultural Routes Programme, which took place from 2-4 October 2019 in Sibiu, Romania.

David Vuillaume, NEMO Chair, attended the Forum on behalf of NEMO and brought the perspective of the museum sector and its contribution to the tourism sector.

The Cultural Routes Forum offer tourists from across Europe and beyond a unique and informed experience. The aim of the Advisory Forum is to stimulate debate between the Cultural Routes and the wider tourism sector. A certain focus was set on ways that the Cultural Routes can continue to capitalize on the growing market for cultural tourism;

  • Profile the cultural heritage, traditions, experiences and connectivity of Europe;
  • Stimulate and support the development of local, regional, national and trans-national tourist economies;
  • Encourage creativity and innovation in the cultural sector that can add to the tourist experience;
  • Create opportunities for exchange, new motilities and inter-cultural dialogue across Europe and between Europe and the rest of the World.
