Participate in Public Consultations on the Post-2020 EU Budget

EU open consultation asks about the priorities for the EU budget including programmes and policies beyond 2020. A wide range of topics that are particularly relevant for the museum and culture sector is included. The surveys are open until 8 March 2018.

The views expressed in the public consultations will be taken into account when developing the post-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework and the next generation of financial programmes. The consultations present an opportunity for museums to make their voices heard. Participate in the public consultations by filling in the online questionnaires. NEMO provides a short introduction to the questionnaires relevant to the museum sector below.

Values and mobility go hand in hand with some of the museum’s general functions, such as an enabler of social values, offering learning opportunities and being part of creating a more understanding and accepting society. Further, the EU wishes to gather opinions about digitisation, creativity and innovation as well as European cultural diversity and cultural heritage.

Migration deals with issues such as integration, diversity and education for immigrants. Further, the EU hopes to gain knowledge about citizens' expectations on the future climate within the EU, regarding openness and acceptance. Museums are key drivers of intercultural dialogue and, by fostering the knowledge of cultures and society, understanding. Their actions are important for a positive, inclusive and open social climate within the EU and should be regarded in EU budget decisions particularly towards integration.

Strategic infrastructure is divided into four different fields in the questionnaire; transport, energy, digital and space. While these are not primarily relevant to the cultural sector, the development of the digital and transportation infrastructure are important to foster the accessibility to cultural collections, facilities and information. Sustainable infrastructures and energy contribute to the protection of cultural heritage.
