Preparatory meeting of the next NEMO Political Internship in Museums

Leading up to the next NEMO Political Internship in Museums, NEMO visited Muzeiko in Sofia, Bulgaria, to plan for the upcoming internship with Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth.

The internship programme is organised to provide EU policy makers with a better understanding of museum work. By inviting politicians to do hands-on work behind the scenes of museum, NEMO wants to show them that museums have an imperative value for society.

Each internship is tailored according to the politician’s field and interest. Considering Commissioner Gabriel work portfolio and her connection to Bulgaria, it was natural to seek out a science museum in the region. The date of the Commissioner’s internship at Muzeiko will shortly be announced.

Previously, Luca Jahier, President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), and Julie Ward, MEP and previous member of the CULT committee, have participated in the museum advocacy initiative.
