The event promoted an open conversation with industry professionals, working in Italy and abroad, with the aim of sharing up-to-date theoretical and practical reflections, contributions and guidelines. Discussions revolved around two foundational topics described by two word pairs: ‘heritage education/didactic’ and ‘training/hands-on experience’.

With the event, the organisers (Association of Museum Educators, GEM Italy, ICOM Italy and NEMO) wished to explore competencies that define museum educators and what kind of training is most suited for the museum educator profession.
