The European Parliament Allocates 2 Million Euros for the Creation of a European Museum Card

With a majority in Parliament, it was decided that 2 million euros will be released in the 2019 budget to create a European museum card.

The money will be used to investigate if a European museum card would be feasible and it would cover start-up costs. The pass itseld must however be self financed. Marietje Schaake, who presented the proposal, refers to The Netherlands museum pass:

"In the Netherlands, the museum card provided the participating museums with many millions of euros," says Schaake. "A European map makes a museum visit across the border more accessible, stimulates European culture exchange and gives more people the opportunity to get to know our common European history."
