NEMO is on the road...

... throughout Europe. The past month saw NEMO at several events of partners, members and its own executive board meeting to discuss the next events, NEMO's annual conference and 25th birthday in November, and future activities.

NEMO members can still apply for the next Learning Exchange to Dublin, Ireland and now also to the next Training Course in collaboration with We Are Museums and Buzzeum in Paris, France.
Not a NEMO member, but interested? NEMO Members can now also appoint members of their organisations and institutions for these activities. Find out who our member organisations are!

ASSOCIATION OF SWEDISH MUSEUMS: Museum law for professional independence and more

The Swedish parliament has approved a new law for public museums to safeguard professionalism but also giving museums a defined role of their contribution to society. Other decisions included to give the National Heritage Board a wider task supporting museums and to augment the responsibility of the National Historical Museums.


The National Institute for Museums and Public Collections in Poland is pleased to inform that the museological and educational experiment of the "Anything goes" Museum in the National Museum in Warsaw has received the Sybilla Grand Prix award. Sybilla is the annual museum award, it was established in 1980.  Awards are granted to all types of museums in 11 categories.

INSTITUTE FOR MUSEUM RESEARCH: A participatory action for virtual museums | Invitation to join the ViMM expert network

Virtual Multimodal Museum (ViMM) is a high-visibility and participative Coordination and Support Action, funded under the EU Horizon 2020 programme. ViMM brings together Europe's leading organisations working on virtual museums and digital cultural heritage. Results, publications, case-studies, and tools are made available under Experts or those interested in museology and cutting edge technology can participate in shaping the understanding of virtual museums and digital cultural heritage by becoming part of the ViMM network. Registered members can comment and discuss findings and contribute to the current research. also serves as a gateway to publications, news, events, best-practice examples, tools and knowhow, and enables exchange with ViMM experts. THE ASSOCIATION OF POLISH MUSEUM PROFESIONALS: The Historical Museum of the City of Krakow to open new branch

Krakow will receive an innovative local history museum, presenting the significance of the Podgórze district. The museum was built through the initiative of the districts inhabitants. This unconventional approach is based on their participation in multigenerational meetings at the museum and discussions on the past and future of Podgórze as a part of cultural capital of Poland. Podgórze Museum is set to open on 30 October 2017.

NATIONAL GALLERY OF IRELAND: Refurbished wings reopened

The National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin reopened its historic wings after a period of extensive refurbishment and greatly improved the visitor experience of the collections. The reopening coincides with the Gallery's landmark exhibition, Vermeer and the Masters of Genre Painting: Inspiration and Rivalry opening this Saturday, 17 June. See for more information.
