Enjoy the last rays of summer sunshine,

before it will be too cold to go outside. However, NEMO will make sure to keep you entertained during the dark autumn and winter months. Registration to the next NEMO Webinar has opened and we recommend that you sign up as soon as possible. On 30 October 2018, Jenny Siung, Head of Education at the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin, Ireland, will share her experiences of involving the local maker community and creative partners in activities at the museum. If you haven’t registered to NEMO’s 26th Annual Conference yet, make sure to do so now, in order to connect with museums all over Europe. From 15-18 November 2018, NEMO will gather European museum and culture professionals in Valletta, Malta, to explore the crossover impact of museums.

In May 2018, MEP Julie Ward was the first EU-level politician to participate in NEMO’s new museum advocacy initiative NEMO Political Internships in Museums. Watch the video documentation of her day at the Bonnefantenmuseum by clicking here.

News from our Members

German Museums Association: The “Guidelines on Dealing with Collections from Colonial Contexts in Museums and Collections” is now available in English.

The guidelines offer support for museum workers, e.g. for restitution requirements, when working with objects from colonial contexts. Also, the publication aims to start a much needed discussion about the colonial past of museums and their collections. The first edition of the guidelines will function as a basis for discussion; a second revised edition of the guidelines incorporating new perspectives is planned to be published in the spring of 2019.
