WHO IS THE CONFERENCE FOR?
NEMO European Museum Conference is open for everyone and especially targets museum directors, culture policy people, museum educators, activists, students, people active in European cooperation projects, curators, representatives of museum organisations, museums interest groups and policy makers on national and European level.
Tartu is the second largest city in Estonia and can be accessed via the airport in the capital city Tallinn. It takes about 2,5 hours to travel from the airport to Tartu with bus or train.
Please do consider alternatives to flying, such as taking the train or bus to minimize your carbon footprint when traveling to the conference.
Delegates traveling from Helsinki, Finland, have the option of flying directly to Tartu Airport with Finnair. The Airport Express Bus (free) or taxi, which costs about €11-14, takes you into the city of Tartu.
Travel from Tallinn to Tartu
On www.tpilet.ee/en you can book one of over 30 express buses that depart daily from Tallinn's bus station via Tallinn Airport (Lennujaam) to Tartu bus station. Bus tickets are about €10 and all buses have Wi-Fi.
People arriving late at night to Tallinn Airport can order the Tartu-Tallinn airport shuttle, which costs about €20.
For roughly the same price as the bus, one can take the train from Tallinn to Tartu. Eight trains depart daily from Tallinn's Balti Jaam train station to Tartu and you can book your ticket on www.elron.ee/en. It is recommended to book seats in advance since the trains usually fill up, especially on Fridays and Sundays. The trains have free Wi-Fi.
Have a look at our conference map!
Most of the conference programme will take place at the Estonian National Museum. The museum is situated 2 kilometres outside of the city centre and daily shuttles will take conference delegates from Tartu to the museum. More details about the NEMO shuttle bus will be added in late September.
