Karsten Merrald Sørensen

Karsten Merrald Sørensen is trained as both a historian and an archaeologist — and has written a PhD on the significance of church buildings in the 16th to 18th centuries.

Earlier this year Karsten Merrald Sørensen came from a position as museum director at Museum Fredericia, where he has, among other things, been the driving force behind the establishment of a new museum aimed at conveying the history of the fortress town.

Today he is the museum director of Museum Horsens, which includes Horsens Museum – 10,000 Years of Local History through archaeology, Fængselsmuseet – Europe's Largest Prison Museum, and Horsens Kunstmuseum – A Hub for Contemporary Danish Art.

At NEMO’s European Museum Conference 2025, Karsten Merrald Sørensen will be part of opening the conference and welcoming the participants on Monday, 27 October.
