The social impact commitment: Audiences at the heart of cultural organisations

Presentation abstract

The Social Impact Commitment of Cultural Organizations (CISOC) is a new public policy measure of the Strategic Plan of the National Plan for the Arts of Portugal that is currently being designed to be publicly presented by the end of this year. It will be an operational tool in terms of planning and self-assessment, aiming to reinforce cultural citizenship, position audiences at the heart of practices of cultural organizations and strengthen their educational performance. Autonomy and flexibility are guiding principles of the CISOC. It will be up to each organization to independently define what is appropriate and applicable, identify their needs in the relationship with audiences, assume their transformation and implement certain lines of action, indicators and goals.
