Pirjo Hamari

Pirjo Hamari is an experienced heritage professional who has been working with heritage management and policy-related questions at the Finnish Heritage Agency since 2001. Graduated in archaeology in 1996 (PhD in 2019), she initially worked in archaeological field work and site management as a Researcher. In 2001, she moved on to digital heritage management and policy development as a Senior Advisor.

In2008 she started working as Head of Development, later as Director of Development in the Museum development unit at The Finnish Heritage Agency, which is responsible for the direction and development of the national museum sector. She has participated in several national and international policy working groups in the field of cultural heritage and museums, as well as participated in several national and international projects as a partner and a manager. Currently, she is the director of the EU-funded MOI! Museums of Impact project.

Her expertise covers museums, cultural heritage, intangible heritage, digital heritage management and access to content; policy development, co-operation and project management and evaluation.

At NEMO’s European Museum Conference 2020, Pirjo Hamari will introduce the participants to MOI! Museums of Impact, one of NEMO's current European cooperation projects, on 19 November 2020.
