Nils Fietje

Nils Fietje is a Technical Officer on Culture and Health within the Behavioural and Cultural Insights (BCI) Unit at the WHO Regional Office for Europe. With a background in English literature and the cultural history of medicine, he explores how cultural contexts influence health and well-being. Within the BCI unit, Nils leads WHO Europe’s work on arts and health.

In 2019 he commissioned WHO’s first-ever evidence review on arts and health, which has since become a cornerstone publication in the field. Nils also co-directs the Jameel Arts & Health Lab, where he focuses on arts and health research and policy development. 

At NEMO’s European Museum Conference 2025, Nils Fietje will moderate the panel “Caring collaborations across sectors: from inspiration to infrastructure” on Tuesday, 28 October.
