Olga Van Oost

Olga Van Oost (prof. dr.) is director of FARO, the Flemish Institution for Cultural Heritage and museologist at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB, Belgium). She strives for a human-centered leadership in which well-being, inclusion, freedom of speech and respect are key elements.

Together with a skilled and experienced team, she commits herself daily to support heritage workers in Belgium. FARO works for and with heritage workers in museums, archives, heritage libraries and heritage service providers. Olga also coordinates the Flemish Museum Network (Vlaams Museumoverleg), a network of national museum directors and umbrella heritage organizations.

At NEMO’s European Museum Conference 2024, Olga Van Oost deliver the workshop "Museums striving for autonomy in the Netherlands and Belgium: A utopia?" on Monday 11 November. Olga will also join the session “Are we allowed to talk?” on Tuesday 12 November.
