Rachel Tranter

Rachel Tranter is Director of GEM the Group for Education in Museums. Rachel has over 25 years’ experience of working in museums, with a particular focus on learning, inclusion & community engagement. At GEM Rachel has supported the UK museum sector to be inclusive, relevant and democratic through GEM training, advocacy and dissemination of best practice.

Alongside her role leading GEM, Rachel is a Trustee and Co-Founder of a mental health charity - Art & Soul alongside two other trustee roles. In 2023, Rachel was an awarded an MBE from King Charles III for her services to museums, heritage and the arts.

At NEMO’s European Museum Conference 2024, Rachel Tranter will deliver the workshop "Democratising the museum: Creating inclusive learning for all" on Tuesday 12 November.
