This second ECHOES Policy Event marks an important milestone in shaping the future of the European Cultural Heritage Cloud, a major EU initiative designed to support collaboration, knowledge sharing and digital innovation in the cultural heritage sector. The event will explore how the Cloud’s future legal entity and governance model can best represent Europe’s diverse cultural heritage ecosystem.
Building on the outcomes of ECHOES’ first Policy Event, the 2026 edition will bring together European, national and regional representatives, policymakers, and cultural heritage experts. Discussions will revolve around the theme “Towards a distributed, multi-level, collaborative governance for the Cultural Heritage Cloud”, which reflects ECHOES’ ambition to create a governance system that is inclusive, transparent and democratic, ensuring that the Cloud becomes a shared resource shaped by, and serving, the full range of cultural heritage communities across Europe.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about ECHOES’ strategy for the Cloud’s future legal entity and governance framework.
- Contribute to conversations on how to accommodate the wide professional and geographical diversity of the cultural heritage sector.
- Engage directly with key policymakers and experts shaping this major European initiative.
- Help define how the sector collaborates digitally in the years ahead.
