Directors' Meeting 2024
The annual Directors’ Meeting, exclusively dedicated to NEMO’s full members, national museum organisations, took place on 10 Sunday November 2024 at the Biblioteca Județeană Astra in Sibiu, Romania. The event was held in connection with NEMO’s European Museum Conference.
This gathering provided a forum for directors of national museum organisations to network, exchange ideas, and address shared challenges in the museum sector. The 2024 meeting picked up on the topic of the NEMO European Museum Conference 'Can we talk? Museums facing polarisation' by focusing on a timely and critical issue: the impact of political influence on museums.
In addition to engaging discussions, Paulina Florjanowicz presented findings from NEMO’s online survey conducted in August 2024 on political pressure within the museum sector. Amongst other, the initial results revealed that while political pressure was a common experience across Europe, its manifestations varied significantly from country to country.
