The Project Group Museums in the Future was established by the Portuguese Government in 2019. The group has developed throughout a year a work of analysis and presentation of proposals, which resulted in the preliminary version of its final report for public discussion in order to be concluded by October.
Among the group's recommendations, we highlight the proposal to create a new Institute of Museums and Monuments, the establishment of an integrated program for museums supported by different government areas, an employment program for young professionals, cooperation with science, the creation of community support groups and the set up of pilot projects for “anchor museums” in a territorial basis.
