Sofiya Petrova

Sofiya Petrova is a graduate in Arts and Culture Studies from Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Her interests focus on the economics of cultural heritage, cultural policy, and the impact of digital technologies on the cultural sector. Petrova participated in the EU-led digital cultural heritage project SkillFoster (SkillFoster – NTCenter.bg ), where she presented a digital sculpture preservation project focused on Dutch tangible heritage. 

She also contributed research to the Association for Cultural Economics International (ACEI), examining intellectual property rights in relation to the protection of the craft sector. More recently, she conducted research with the Museumvereniging (Dutch Museum Association), analysing the use of artificial intelligence in art museums in the Netherlands.

At NEMO’s European Museum Conference 2026, Sofiya Petrova will join the session “Short Cuts: Museum practice in an AI-shaped world” on Monday, 12 October.
