On 1 January 2024, Belgium took over the Presidency of the Council of the EU after Spain. The Belgian presidency will last until 30 June and is the last rotating Council Presidency of the current legislative term.

NEMO liaises with European policy makers and EU Institutions in all areas relevant to museums. We produce recommendations and co-operate with partners in the European cultural field to make our demands heard. We also help our members to build successful advocacy campaigns and support museums to make an impact on various sectors.

NEMO is quick at gauging museum activities and responses to different crises. Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have published two reports, mapped the response across Europe and gathered resources. We also #StandWithUkraine and published a statement and collected initial initiatives by museums in support of Ukraine after Russia invaded the country in February 2022.
