Draft of the 2025 Creative Europe budget

The European Commission has unveiled its draft annual budget proposal for 2025, allocating €352 million for the Creative Europe Programme to “support artists and creators around Europe.” This represents a 5.2% increase from last year.

The budget breakdown includes €108 million for the Culture strand, €189.7 million for the Media strand, €29.3 million for the Cross-sectoral strand, and €25.2 million for support expenditures including the relevant budget of the European Education and Culture Executive Agency.

The proposal will need a green light to be adopted from both the Council (member states’ governments), which will adopt its position by 1 October, and the European Parliament, which has 42 days to respond after the Council’s decision.

Looking ahead, the financial programming for the final two years of the current Creative Europe iteration (2026-2027) shows an estimated budget of approximately €250 million each year, which is lower than previous periods.
