First five mentees of 2026 start their professional growth journey

For the first round of the NEMO One to One Mentoring in 2026, five mentees were selected from Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Malta, and Portugal. Between March and July, they will receive personalised support to achieve professional goals.

The NEMO One to One Mentoring is exclusively offered to individuals connected to NEMO member organisations since 2022 and is carried out in partnership with the Group for Education in Museums (GEM). GEM matches the selected mentees with museum experienced professionals within their network in the United Kingdom for 2-3 online mentoring sessions.

The mentoring is well received by the mentees. After completing the programme in 2025, a participant in NEMO’s expressed that: “The mentoring had a huge impact in my professional development because it complemented the knowledge that I already had and gave new solutions to everyday problems.”

Another participant shared that: “The mentoring program has had a significant impact on both my personal and professional development. The program was new to me and proved to be very interesting. Throughout the process, I realized that it is possible to plan new activities based on the resources available in the museum, which has enriched my professional perspective. The mentor’s high level of professionalism and experience was particularly helpful, guiding me to better understand and develop my own potential.

When asked to describe their mentoring journey in one sentence, one mentee said that it was “A supportive and encouraging journey that allowed me to explore and strengthen ideas and skills for making heritage sites more engaging for youths, while also contributing to my personal and professional growth.

Another mentee summarised the mentoring with the words: “Insightful, respectful exchange between two cultural workers - sparking understanding, joy and motivation in a validating environment.”
