During the discussion, NEMO’s Secretary General Julia Pagel advocated on behalf of European museums for Creative Europe to remain a standalone, targeted, and autonomous cultural programme. In line with Culture Action Europe’s recommendations, NEMO called for at least 2% of the next EU Multiannual Financial Framework to be allocated to the creation, dissemination, and sustainability of European cultural content.
NEMO also underlined the importance of preserving Creative Europe’s cultural mandate. Rather than burdening it with objectives from other policy areas, NEMO encouraged stronger integration of culture into wider EU programmes such as Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, and cohesion funds. This approach highlights the cross-sectoral value of culture while allowing Creative Europe to stay focused on its core mission.
