NEMO to join EU budget discussion on culture

NEMO has been invited to take part in the upcoming roundtable ‘Culture in the Next EU Budget’, scheduled for Tuesday, 23 September 2025 in Brussels, Belgium, to contribute to discussions on the European Commission’s proposal for the Multiannual Financial Framework.

NEMO Executive Board member Sergio Servellón will join the event, which brings together stakeholders from across the cultural sector, including Members of the European Parliament, policymakers, and institutional representatives.

The roundtable offers an opportunity for cultural organisations to contribute to the discussion on the European Commission’s legislative proposal for the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), published on 16 July. NEMO’s participation will help ensure that the museum sector is included in these conversations.

Speakers include Nela Riehl, Chair of the CULT Committee; Hannes Heide, rapporteur on the opinion for a revised long-term EU budget; and a representative of the Danish Presidency of the Council.

NEMO especially welcomes the participation of MEP Nela Riehl, who recently took part in a NEMO Political Internship at the BELvue Museum. The internship programme, running since 2018, aims to give EU policymakers first-hand insight into the vital role museums play in society. Hopefully her recent experience will put the needs of museums high on the agenda.
