Madeleine Schlawitz

Madeleine Schlawitz heads Digital Legal Deposit and Usage at the Royal Danish Library, where she also oversees a number of other digital projects. Previously, she worked as collections manager and archivist at the Danish Film Institute, focusing on film preservation and digital access solutions. With a background as a librarian, Madeleine has dedicated her career to the preservation and accessibility of cultural heritage.

Her work emphasizes the importance of maintaining collections that reflect Denmark's rich cultural history. Through her expertise in digital technologies, she has enhanced public access to archival materials, ensuring that valuable resources are preserved for future generations. Her leadership promotes innovative approaches to digital heritage and fosters collaboration between institutions.

At NEMO’s European Museum Conference 2026, Madeleine Schlawitz will co-facilitate the workshop “Museums and the digital footprint” on Tuesday, 13 October.
