Call for Expression of Interest: Co-creating sustainable futures with museum collections

As a project partner of TOWCHED EU, NEMO is pleased to share a Call for Expression of Interest (EoI) inviting museums across Europe to take part in subcontracted activities supporting sustainability oriented, collection based practices with children and youth. Deadline: 7 June 2026.

Up to 10 museums will be selected to deliver collection based interventions between July 2026 and July 2027, contributing to societal change through co creation, learning, and community engagement.

Through this call, selected museums will contribute to:

  • Strengthening Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)
  • Fostering co creation with children, youth and communities
  • Generating insights and feedback for the wider TOWCHED project

Selected institutions will act as subcontractors, delivering defined activities as part of TOWCHED, and thus contributing to the Horizon Europe project that aims to explore how inclusive, arts based and heritage centred learning can foster sustainable and just development.

Required activities and deliverables

Selected museums are expected to:

  • Develop one collection based intervention
  • Organise one internal workshop
  • Deliver one public event (e.g. community activity, pop up or small exhibition)
  • Participate in training, onboarding, and peer exchange
  • Contribute to a local Cultural Hub on ESD
  • Support monitoring and evaluation (e.g. surveys, interviews, data collection)
  • Submit a final report and deliverables package

Who can apply?

The call is open to public or non profit museums with permanent or semi permanent collections, legally established in EU Member States or Horizon Europe associated countries.

Applicants should have interest or experience in sustainability related topics, such as the SDGs, human rights, inclusion or environmental protection, and experience working with children and youth. 

What is offered?

  • Selected museums will receive:
  • A fixed contract value of €3,000 (incl. applicable taxes)
  • Access to capacity building, tools and training
  • Participation in a Europe wide Community of Practice
  • Support in developing collection based ESD interventions
