Get practical in our workshops
This year we want you to get talking and have inspiring, insightful and sometimes challenging conversations. So next to presentations and panels, we have organised several workshop opportunities on both Monday 11 November and Tuesday 12 November.
The workshops present excellent moments for hands-on work and to discuss big topics in smaller groups. Take the chance to exchange with peers on museums as democratic institutions and agents of social transformation, staff wellbeing as well as diversity and representation. Cultural organisations and museums will also be equipped with strategies to ensure autonomy, dialogue techniques, audience research to connect with underrepresented audiences and explore methods for equality.
Sign up for the workshops in the conference registration form.
Sibiu - City of Culture, City of Cultures
Sibiu, one of Transylvania's most charming medieval cities, provides the backdrop for this year’s NEMO European Museum Conference. With its Gothic churches, Renaissance buildings, and Baroque palaces, the city offers a rich cultural heritage. In addition to exploring the city and the beautiful surrounding landscape on your own, you can book one of the following activities in the registration form:
- Tour of ASTRA Museum (10 November from 14:30-16:30)
- Sibiu city tour (10 November from 14:30-16:30)
- Tour of Brukenthal Palace and Museum (10 November from 15:30-17:30)
- Post-conference tour to Alba Iulia, the symbolic city of modern Romania (13 November from 10:00-16:00)
Sibiu’s vibrant arts scene, from the International Theatre Festival to the renowned ASTRA Film Fest, adds to its dynamic atmosphere. The ASTRA Museum, one of our conference hosts, serves as a hub for cultural preservation. With weekly events ranging from craft fairs to cultural workshops, it showcases the region’s dedication to keeping traditions alive.
Whether through its historic sites or cultural offerings, Sibiu promises an inspiring and enriching experience complementing the rich conference programme.
NEMO's European Museum Conference 2024 is co-organised together with the National Network of Romanian Museums, the ASTRA Museum and thanks to co-funding by the European Union.
