G7 Culture Ministers declare culture a global public good in Naples Declaration

At the G7 Culture Ministers' meeting in Naples from 19–21 September 2024, member countries adopted the Naples Declaration, affirming culture as a Global Public Good and a Shared Responsibility among all stakeholders.

The declaration underscores the need for international collaboration to protect and preserve cultural heritage. Key priorities in the declaration include:

  1. Fighting illicit trafficking: Strengthening efforts to prevent and combat the illegal trade of cultural property.
  2. Building resilience: Enhancing the ability of cultural heritage to withstand threats posed by climate change and natural disasters.
  3. Promoting culture's role: Affirming culture's central role in fostering sustainable development and societal well-being.
