The Greening the Museums report, published in 2022, explores how museums can become hubs for sustainability and social change. The initiative was jointly delivered by the British Council Greece and the British Embassy Athens, with funding from the UK government.

Through a series of four workshops, cultural professionals shared practical approaches to reducing environmental impact, building public awareness, and fostering green partnerships. The programme focused on four key areas:

  • Sustainability and digital strategies
  • The future of collections, curating, and storytelling
  • The social impact of museums
  • The role of museums in addressing the climate crisis

The report builds on the British Council’s Museums Revisited programme and reflects ongoing efforts to support cultural organisations in tackling global challenges.
