Guidelines on energy saving measures for museums

To support colleagues in the cultural heritage sector during the energy crisis, NEMO member KIK-IRPA (Belgium) has co-created two practical documents that summarises possible energy saving measures.

The Sustainability Unit of the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (KIK-IPRA) headed the creation of the guidelines which involved several partners. The document includes both simple and more complex measures that heritage institutions can take to reduce their energy consumption.

KIK-IPRA has also been part of drafting a climate statement for heritage organisations together with Dutch and Flemish partners. It outlines general recommendations for indoor climate and is published by the Dutch Cultural Heritage Agency – Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
