The Hub is launched by the National Museum Directors' Council (NMDC) in collaboration with the Association of Independent Museums (AIM). The review and curation of resources was carried out by sustainability specialists and museum experts to provide practical and accessible guidance for cultural organisations.

The Museum Climate Hub aims to make it easier for museums to find relevant information and tools by organising resources into a single, accessible platform.
All resources included in the hub have been reviewed against a set of criteria to ensure they are:
- Trusted – Produced by organisations and authors recognised by the museum and heritage sector.
- Scientifically accurate and objective – Aligned with current climate science and best practice.
- Actionable and relevant – Offering practical advice that can be applied in organisational contexts.
- Current – Reflecting up-to-date information and guidance.
Supporting climate action in the museum sector
According to NMDC, the hub responds to a recommendation emerging from its 2023 Museum COP event, which identified the need for clearer signposting to existing resources and practical support for museums working to reduce emissions and respond to the climate and biodiversity crises.
The platform has been developed by MeThree as a strategic pilot project. In addition to providing immediate support for the sector, it serves as a testing ground for potential future developments. Users are encouraged to provide feedback on both the platform and the resources it contains, helping shape the future direction of the initiative.
