In his keynote, Museum Chronoscopes: Pages from the Everyday, Sandro Debono will introduce the concept of "museum chronoscopes": conceptual tools that encourage museums to reflect on how present-day decisions shape future outcomes.
Drawing inspiration from H. G. Wells' notion of time travel, the keynote will explore how museums have long acted as institutions that help society understand the past through collections, archives, conservation work and documentation. Debono will then turn to the future, considering how museums can navigate contemporary challenges and anticipate change.
With a professional background spanning art history, visual studies, exhibition development, participation and strategic foresight, Sandro Debono's work examines how museums can become more future-oriented while remaining grounded in their everyday practices and responsibilities.
