NEMO has been Invited as Expert Speakers at the European Summit Conference: Endangered Heritage/ Endangered Values

A member of the NEMO executive board has been invited as an expert speaker at the Endangered Heritage/ Endangered Values panel debate, which is organised within the framework of the European Cultural Heritage Summit: Sharing Heritage - Sharing Values. The panel debate takes place on 20 June 2018 in Berlin, Germany.

The NEMO board member Aida Vezic, the Balkan Museum Network (Heritage without Borders), will participate in the panel debate focusing on the importance of Cultural Heritage and its impact on national and European levels. The invited speakers range from leading politicians, senior diplomats, senior academics, cultural heritage experts, journalists to students.

The aim of the panel debate is to present and discuss the problematic of sites found in list of the 7 Most Endangered Cultural Heritage Sites in 2018, as well as to engage in discussions about topics such as:

  • The importance of National Cultural Heritage sites to the whole European and International Community
  • Challenging the assumption of shared heritage leading to shared values
  • Debating the role and the responsibility of governments, private sector and civil society in preserving the sites
  • Reflecting on how Cultural Heritage as a common issue should be countered through a common project as an attempt of building “common identity” for a “common heritage”
