NEMO Reaffirms the Importance of Cultural Heritage by signing the “Berlin Call to Action”

NEMO is proud to sign and share the “Berlin Call to Action”, which builds momentum from the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 and calls for action with tangible results in regard to cultural heritage. The document was presented at the European cultural Heritage Summit in Berlin, Germany, on 22 June 2018 by the co-hosting organisations EUROPA NOSTRA, the German Cultural Heritage Committee (DNK) and the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK).

By signing the Berlin Call to Action, NEMO acknowledges the potential and power that a shared cultural heritage promises when striving towards a more peaceful, prosperous, inclusive and just Europe. As a member of the EYCH Stakeholders Committee and the European Heritage Alliance 3.3., NEMO has been part of developing the document through input and support.

The “Berlin Call for Action” stresses the importance to make cultural heritage integral at the centre of Europe’s policies and priorities. The document presents seven effective means of action with tangible results for Europe and its citizens:

  • Developing the European action plan for cultural heritage
  • Recognising heritage as a priority for European policies and funding
  • Bridging local, national and European
  • Preserving and transmitting the irreplaceable
  • Investing in quality heritage-led regeneration
  • Promoting better knowledge and deeper understanding
  • Building on the momentum
