NEMO spoke about museums contribution to migration at conference in Russia

On 13 December 2019, NEMO spoke about migration and museums at the conference “Museum in the City — City in the Museum” in Moscow, Russia.

NEMO’s Secretary General Julia Pagel was invited to speak in the panel discussion “City and migration: challenges and opportunities for a city museum” at the fourth International Research and Practice Conference, which took place from 13-14 December 2019 at the Museum of Moscow. Julia contributed with best practice examples of how European museums work with refugees and in other ways deal with the topic of migration.

The panel aimed to shed light on how growing migration flow changes the city and how it affects its cultural, social, economic, and political processes. Museums actively engage in the migration agenda, bridging the gap between locals and the newly-arrived. They also attempt at forming loyal adaptive environment to consider the diversity of all urban cultures.
