Report on mainstreaming biodiversity in museums

In anticipation of the international World Wildlife Day on 3 March and following the recent UN COP biodiversity conference, NEMO shares a report on how museums can engage with wildlife and biodiversity. Museums have a unique opportunity to contribute to biodiversity conservation, not only through their collections, but also through education, advocacy, and community engagement.

The publication ‘Mainstreaming biodiversity in museums’ (2023) by Henry McGhie was created to help museums and their stakeholders understand and align with the Global Biodiversity Framework (2022-30) and the Convention on Biological Diversity. Building on the roadmap set out in 'Museums and the Sustainable Development Goals', it provides practical guidance on integrating biodiversity into museum activities.
