NEMO is thrilled to announce the location and theme of the 2023 NEMO European Museum Conference. From 19-21 November, museum professionals are invited to Lahti, Finland, to discuss and exchange on ways for museums to act on the climate crisis and for sustainability.

The recent NEMO report on museums in the climate crisis reflects a museum sector on the brink of change and with increased awareness about their role in the sustainable transition. While the challenges accompanied by change may be immense, they remain dwarfed by the power of our collective ambition. The report showed us, once again, the impact of a network. With that in mind, we invite you to save the dates 19-21 November 2023 for next year's European Museum Conference in Lahti, Finland, where we will exchange and act on the climate crisis together.

The Finnish Museums Association is hosting the conference on the occasion of the Association’s 100th anniversary. Petra Havu, CEO of the Finnish Museums Association and member of the NEMO Executive Board looks forward to welcoming the conference participants to Lahti: “The NEMO European Museum Conference will truly highlight our 100th anniversary celebration next year. We are looking forward to inspirational conversations about sustainability with our European colleagues. We can all learn a lot from our host city of Lahti, European Green Capital 2021, and we are certain that the Lahti museums will make an impact as well.
