Visitor numbers in the United Kingdom continue to increase

Data on monthly visitor numbers collected by the UK Government shows that museums are gradually regaining pre-pandemic levels.

Figures show that visits to institutions sponsored by the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS) have increased by 27% since 2022. However, at 19% less than the same period in 2019, the numbers still lag behind pre-pandemic levels.

A spokesman for the DCMS said: “It is encouraging to see that the numbers of visitors to our museum and galleries continue to increase following the pandemic. We encourage people across the country and visiting the UK to take advantage of the incredible experiences our museums and galleries have to offer.”
