Articulate and Measure Museums’ Social Impact

The Oakland Museum of California, USA, is in the process of investigating what kind of impact the museum has on the local community. The research is still on-going and as part of understanding the museum’s potential social impact, the museum has shared challenges and outcomes of the project.

Johanna Jones, Associate Director of Evaluation and Visitor Insights, Oakland Museum of California, shares the steps that have been taken by the museum thus far together with comments on what presumptions had to be revisited and how the vision for its social impact has evolved.
