Call for papers – Museum history conference in Szeged

For the third edition of the museum history conference Museums on Troubled Waters – In the Past and Today “We should not think that we are the pioneers…”, papers are welcomed until 15 March 2020. The conference takes place from 4-6 November 2020 in Szeged, Hungary, and is organised by the Hungarian Museums Associton, the Jósa András Museum of Nyíregyháza and  the Department of Archaeology of the University of Szeged.

Papers and posters on the following topics are welcomed:

  1. Museum buildings, the housing of the collections – their changes in the course of time
  2. The first exhibitions, changes in the concept and methodology of arranging exhibitions
  3. Relationship between the museums and their supervisory authorities
  4. Role of the museums in public education
  5. History of the museum founding societies/associations

The conference languages are English and German.

The Jósa András Museum of Nyíregyháza and Department of Archaeology of the University of Szeged (Hungary) is continuing a series of conference on museum history that was started in 2016. The first edition took place in Alba Iulia (Rumania) and continued in 2019 in Nyíregyháza (Hungary).
